Gnosis Studio Webinar 02: Basic 2D Game Design and World Building: What Works and What Doesn't

Details of the event/activity Mr. Jin Raziel Agsalud is a Story Writer and Concept Designer and was the resource speaker of the Gnosis Studio’s second webinar event called, “Basic 2D Game Design and World Building: What Works and What Doesn't” that was held on December 10, 2022, through Google Meet and Facebook Live.  II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings) The resource speaker, Mr. Agsalud, and the host, Mr. Wicker, made the webinar into a podcast and the audience seemed to like that kind of setup.   I. Details of the event/activity Mr. Moses Israel T. Villalobos, a fourth-year animation student at iAcademy. He was the resource speaker of the Gnosis Studio’s first seminar event called, “Creating Illustrations: The Importance of Illustrating and Ways to Improve” that was held on December 09, 2022, at Gordon College Function Hall. Mr. Villalobos shared his knowledge to the attendees the importance of illustration as well as to show them the ways to improve.  II. Reflections on the seminar/activity give rise to (learnings) Making an illustration is very useful, especially as an animation student. Illustrations can be used in designing an effective character design. It can also be used in creating a story that needs no texts to tell what is going on in one frame. Gnosis Studio Webinar 01: Advance Sound Engineering on Instruments and Vocals Mixing

 I. Details of the event/activity Mr. Christan Marie V. Mallari, a fourth-year student at Gordon College studying Bachelor of Science in Entertainment and Multimedia Computing, Major in Digital Animation. He was the resource speaker of the Gnosis Studio’s first webinar event called, “Advance Sound Engineering on Instruments and Vocals Mixing” that was held on November 26, 2022, through Google Meet and Facebook Live. Mr. Mallari is the Sound Designer of the Gnosis Studio. He uses Fruity Loops Studio or FL Studio and it is a digital audio workstation that features a graphical user interface with a pattern-based music sequencer, to share his knowledge and skills with us. Reflection Report #5: Academe – Industry Linkage: GC-CCS Meets Top Draw Animation

 I. Details of the event/activity      On November 15, 2022, the Top Draw Animation Studio came to Gordon College and gave career talk on life in animation to the students of the College of Computer Studies Department. During the event, Dr. Erlinda S. Casela-Abarintos, the Vice President of Administration and Finance, as well as the Department Dean, gave the opening remarks. Prof. Arlinda M. Pame, Dr. Imelda DP. Soriano, and Dr. Darwin P. Paguio gave their special message to the delegates. This is followed by the career talk, which was led by Ms. Kleyr Chainani, Chief People Officer of Top Draw Animation, and Mr. Russell Hicks, the President and CEO of the Top Draw Animation Studio. Reflection Report #4: ANIMAHENASYON 16: The 2022 Philippine Animation Festival

   I. Details of the event/activity      ANIMAHENASYON is an annual animation festival that exhibits the talents of Filipino animators. This year, the event took place on November 18 – 20, 2022. This event was hosted by Mr. Chino Wasan and Ms. Grace Dimaranan. On the first day of Animahenasyon, Pendipods, a group of Filipino YouTube animators, shared their experiences as content creators, as well as influencers, with the use of animation. Each of them made doodles as they talked about their life as YouTube animators. It was a fun, relaxing, and refreshing to see a podcast in a webinar series. Day two is where we met Japanese animators. Mr. Mizuki Ito and Mr. Kenji Iwaisawa. Like the Filipino animators, they both shared their experiences and their unique style of animating. Reflection Report #3: PSITE Central Luzon Region RAITE 2022

   I. Details of the event/activity      Regional Assembly of Information Technology Education or RAITE was conducted by the PSITE Central Luzon on October 21, 2022. This event’s goal is to bring the Information Technology schools of region three closer and promote its excellence among students and coaches. The event was headed by Mr. Chevv Tanglao, and like any other events, the opening remarks is given by the President of the PSITE Central Luzon, Dr. Jonilo C. Mababa. The event consists of talks, such as Introduction to AWS & AWS Educate, given by Mr. Rick Tan of Amazon Web Services, and Cybersecurity Landscape: Mitigating Impact to Privacy by Mr. Melner Balce of Gordon College. The event also includes competitions such as, Mobile Legends, Virtual Dance Competitions, and Video Editing Competitions. II. Reflection Report #2: Basic Computer Animation - 3-D Animation Concept

  I. Details of the event/activity                  The title of the webinar I attended online using ZOOM was “Basic Computer Animation Episode 3: 3D Animation Concept” held on September 22, 2022, at 08:00 AM. The webinar episode was once again hosted by Mr. Angelito I. Cunanan Jr., MSIT, a CICT Faculty of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology. He talked about what is 3-Dimensional objects are, what tools you need to make one, what the steps to consider in making a 3D animation, and of course, how to make 3D possible.                  First, Mr. Cunanan introduced to the class what 3-D is all about. 3-D is not just the height and width of an object, for it has depth or thickness, he stated. Reflection Report #1: Basic Computer Animation - 2-D Animation

  I. Details of the event/activity The title of the webinar I attended online using ZOOM was “Basic Computer Animation Episode 2: 2-D Animation” held on September 15, 2022, at 08:00 AM. During this webinar series, the speaker, Mr. Angelito I. Cunanan Jr., of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, talked about what is animation, what tools you need to animate, and of course, how to animate. Basically, all the elements to consider in making an animation are tackled. First, Mr. Cunanan defined what animation is. Animation is a method by which still figures are manipulated to create an illusion of movement as he said to the class. Then he proceeds to explain that with the use of reference and tools, a person can animate. A question that he deliberately asked more than once, “Is it hard to animate?” tells us to speak for him, that it takes effort, and time, for it is indeed a tedious process, yet he told us otherwise.
