Gnosis Studio Seminar: Creating Illustrations: The Importance of Illustrating and Ways to Improve

I. Details of the event/activity

Mr. Moses Israel T. Villalobos, a fourth-year animation student at iAcademy. He was the resource speaker of the Gnosis Studio’s first seminar event called, “Creating Illustrations: The Importance of Illustrating and Ways to Improve” that was held on December 09, 2022, at Gordon College Function Hall. Mr. Villalobos shared his knowledge to the attendees the importance of illustration as well as to show them the ways to improve.

II. Reflections on the seminar/activity give rise to (learnings)

Making an illustration is very useful, especially as an animation student. Illustrations can be used in designing an effective character design. It can also be used in creating a story that needs no texts to tell what is going on in one frame. Illustrating or drawing is a very important skill to have if you want to be in the Animation Industry. Mr. Villalobos made it clear that as artists, we should practice and enhance our skills in creating an illustration.

III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the seminar input on a practical level (Practical application of learnings)

This is the first onsite seminar event we organized for the EMC Seminars and Educational Trips subject. We encountered a lot of troubles in this one. The seminar event overlapped with the schedules. A lot of events are scheduled on that day and the students are preparing for their finals, so less people registered at first. The Gnosis Studio with the help of our fellow fourth-year students managed to get audiences from the different departments. We should have set a much earlier schedule so the people are free to attend.

IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)

As the event organizer, it's encouraging to see the support from my fellow classmates. Mr. Moses Israel T. Villalobos gave us an informative and useful talk. I knew it from the start that he is the right candidate to be our resource speaker for this event.

V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities

I suggest that the team should make sure that everything works before the day of the event and make sure there will be no overlapping of schedules with other seminars/webinars/activities organized by the other studios and faculty members.
