Reflection Report #4: ANIMAHENASYON 16: The 2022 Philippine Animation Festival

 I. Details of the event/activity

ANIMAHENASYON is an annual animation festival that exhibits the talents of Filipino animators. This year, the event took place on November 18 – 20, 2022. This event was hosted by Mr. Chino Wasan and Ms. Grace Dimaranan. On the first day of Animahenasyon, Pendipods, a group of Filipino YouTube animators, shared their experiences as content creators, as well as influencers, with the use of animation. Each of them made doodles as they talked about their life as YouTube animators. It was a fun, relaxing, and refreshing to see a podcast in a webinar series. Day two is where we met Japanese animators. Mr. Mizuki Ito and Mr. Kenji Iwaisawa. Like the Filipino animators, they both shared their experiences and their unique style of animating. They promoted and even showed us their awesome animated works.

II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to (learnings)

I have learned a lot in this webinar series as an aspiring animator. It is never easy for any animators to get out there and make a name for themselves. You have to get through hard times to get where you are supposed to be and should be.

III. Reflections on possibilities of implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level  (Practical application of learnings)

As one who aspires to be in the creative and entertainment industry, you need to make an identity for yourself. You just have to be you and do what you do and let the people appreciate you for who you are and your works. Learn to love and be passionate in what you do. At the end of the day, you will see that everything you worked hard for, your own creations, will reach hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people. Making them happy is what you are made to do. Speaking in experience, seeing that happen, seeing the people clap at my animated film never fails to make me tear up and feel overwhelmed every after screening.

IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)

It was indeed a great experience to be in such an event. No wonder why it is looked forward to every year. It was nice to see animators get together and showcase their works.

V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities

I have no further suggestions for improvements on this Animahenasyon seminar. It was an awesome experience. Looking forward for the next one in year 2023.
